SEILS #5 | Conversation With Siti Hurrairah Sulaiman, Country Chair of Shell Malaysia

We were honoured to co-host Siti Hurrairah Sulaiman, Country Chair of Shell Malaysia, for the fifth edition of the Sunway Education Inclusive Leadership Series (SEILS). Moderated by Professor Dato’ Elizabeth Lee, Group CEO of Sunway Education and a director of the ASLI Board of Directors, the event delved into her inspiring journey as a trailblazer in leadership.

Siti Hurrairah shared her remarkable career trajectory, starting as a Shell scholar and progressing through various leadership roles over 30 years of dedicated service. She highlighted the resilience, adaptability, and empathy that have defined her journey, culminating in her historic appointment as the first woman to hold the position of Country Chair in Malaysia.

Key themes included the balance between leadership and personal life, with Siti Hurrairah emphasising the importance of a robust support system. She explored the challenges of managing both family and corporate responsibilities, and how empathy, inclusivity, and authenticity are essential traits for impactful leadership.

The conversation also touched on how leaders can address the unique needs of their teams, recognising the diverse circumstances of every employee. Her insights offered valuable lessons on fostering a workplace culture that thrives on collaboration and mutual respect.
