Powering Growth: Malaysia’s Role in the Global Semiconductor Research
Did you know that Malaysia is setting the stage to become a global semiconductor giant? With the launch of Southeast Asia’s largest Integrated Circuit Design Park in Selangor, the country is positioning itself as a key player in the semiconductor industry.
This initiative is part of Malaysia’s ambitious National Semiconductor Strategy, designed to create 60,000 skilled jobs and attract $107 billion in investments, to help the nation move closer to its high-income aspirations.
Why does this matter? Industrial policy is making a comeback, as countries around the world are realising the need for government action to support key industries. From the U.S. CHIPS Act to Malaysia’s strategic investments, the goal is to secure supply chains, foster innovation, and spur economic development.
