Reconnecting Resources for Future Generations: Insights from INTAN’s Economic and Public Finance Conference

ASLI was privileged to moderate a panel discussion titled 'Reconnecting Resources for the Wellbeing of Future Generations' at the Economic and Public Finance Conference hosted by the National Institute of Public Administration (INTAN). The session assembled a distinguished panel to explore sustainable development strategies and resource management that align with both economic growth and environmental preservation.

🔍 Panel Insights:

- Datuk Dr. Ahmad Parveez Haji Ghulam Kadir, Director General, Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) discussed sustainable practices in the palm oil industry and the global perceptions of Malaysian palm oil.

- Mr. Yusari bin Basiran, Director of Mineral Economy Section, Department of Minerals and Geosciences Malaysia, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability delved into the sustainable management of minerals and the strategic use of rare earth elements for national resource security.

- Dr. Ida Syahrina Haji Shukor, Deputy Undersecretary, Energy Efficient Section, Ministry of Energy Transitions and Water Transformation emphasised energy efficiency and the integration of renewable energy sources as critical steps towards Malaysia’s energy transition.

- YBrs. Dr. Gopi Krishnan, Associate Director, Macro and Market Analytics, Institute for Capital Market Research Malaysia explored how the capital market can support sustainable development, with a focus on investments in green technologies.

The discussions were not only a deep dive into the current state but also a brainstorming session on future strategies that balance prosperity with sustainability, to ensure that today's development does not compromise the well-being of future generations.
